Hello there!
I'm Mrs. Becca! If you are here, you are looking to learn a little more about me.
My Story
Where to begin...
I was raised on a small farm in the town of Boonville, MO. My father was a brick mason and my mother was a teacher. I grew up basically outside, running through fields, chasing bugs, fishing, riding horses and helping care for the families 30 head of cattle. I was active in sports including softball and track as well as being in chamber choir, speech & drama team, and school plays.
Following high school I started going to university for teaching and then switched to Art: Oil Painting. After school I worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional for a few years then went back to school to earn a degree in web design and multi-media. I got a job at a small online kitchen shop ( think William Sonoma but smaller ) I did SEO, content writing, coding, product research and buying, graphic design and videography.
After moving to the KC area to be closer to family I worked as a designer for local hardscape company designing outdoor pool and entertaining areas. I also did photography, video, and graphic design work for them as well. This was a pretty booming business during covid but after covid things were noticeably slowing down so I decided to return to teaching.
I started working at a small Montessori school, where my children were already attending, as the 2 year old lead teacher. I eventually took on the additional position of Assistant Director while also remaining the 2 year old lead teacher. After 4 years at this childcare facility I decided to get my directors license and start my own childcare business in 2025.
When I am not looking after children I love crafting, gardening, concert going, woodworking and painting. My husband and I have been married for over 13 years. He also works from home as a Program Manager for a national insurance company, which is nice just in case an emergency should ever arise . We have three children ( ages 5,8, and 12), Darcy the dog, and Pepper the cat. Darcy is a 10 year old corgi mix that is very loving and very protective of the children in my care. Pepper the cat loves to sleep with the children, usually choosing a different child and cot to curl up with every day.
The Future...
Sweetie Bug Playschool LLC will hopefully not be a small in-home childcare for long! My goal is to open a small 30 student childcare center a few blocks down the road within the next few years.
